A very rare collector's item. If you are very lucky you may find an Item either gown or skirt from the Caspian Sea collection.
There is a ton of documentation on this piece. The designer is Egyptian born Youssef Rizkallah who designed the whole Caspian collection for Malcolm Starr.
The Source is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art- Bulletin August/September 1971.
A Malcolm Starr dress was a sculptural & shift which was elaborately beaded & sequined.
This amazing gown has an exotic feel and is embellished with gold braid and actual gold covered plexi strips.Paisley and black velour are used to make the design and are striking against the off -white backdrop. The top is a silk crepe.
Rarely does a dress such as this come up for sale. This one was part of an Estate of a Chinese Diplomat living in Kyoto Japan. I was lucky enough to connect with the family.
