this is an 1860's silver engraved fish set to consist of 6 forks and 6 knives. The forks are engraved at the stem and are sterling banded. The knives are engraved along the edge opposite the blade and also have the sterling embossed band on each one. There is a hallmark on the blade of the knife. The letter W &H S possible William Hutton The silver is in good condition minor surface scratches. The blue felt lining of the box has slight weat but clean and the sleeves for the knives and forks are intact. The forks measure : 7 1/2" and the knives measure: 8 1/2" The box has a very good rich color to the wood. there are some deep scratches that are older. There is a brass shield in the center of the box that is for the owners initials to be engraved. The shield does not have an monogram . The handles are of bone. Some of the handles do have cracks typical for age. they do not effect the stability of the piece. Very impressive set and original.
