This auction lot is for a Rod Crossman Original Watercolor of the Reddish Egret. This stunning watercolor measures about 15.5-inches by 22-inches and is painted on a heavy cotton craft-paper stock. The painting is NOT framed. In nature the Reddish Egret stands about 2.5 feet tall and has a wingspan of about 4 feet. They have a blue-gray body and wings with a reddish neck and head. Adults in breeding plumage have long plumes on their heads and necks. They have long blue legs and a pointed salmon-pink bill with a black tip ROD CROSSMAN is a Sporting Artist born in South Dakota in 1952. He was raised in upstate New York but has chosen to spent his adult life in Indiana. He has won numerous awards for his work, which have earned him both national and international acclaim. He has been exhibited in such prominent venues as the Smithsonian Institution and the Chicago Art Institute, as well as other important galleries and events including the Easton Waterfowl Festival. He is an active painter and illustrator, his work can be seen regularly in publications such as Big Sky Journal, Shooting Sportsman, Sporting Classics, Fly Rod and Reel, Sporting Tales, and many others. The artist's works have gone up for sale at public auction at least nine times, mostly in the painting category – as he is also an accomplished woodcrafter/sculpter. The latest auction publicly recorded is for his artwork "How Big Was It?" presented in 2012 at Brunk Auctions which brought about $950. New and other works can still be purchased from the artist website for considerably more.
