The hand-carved, unpainted roothead shorebird is 16.5"H and mounted on a cut piece of driftwood and rusted metal dowl. The head detaches from the body which is 8" in length and appears the bill is not broken, but the end of the root (*see pictures). At the bird's bottom is a carved date and initials that appear to read, "JS '85." The hand-carved preening swan, 20" x 6" (*at widest) x 12.5".H, appears to have been carved from a deteriorated piece of wood - or driftwood - and painted with a gray wash. The neck and head appear to be a separate carving and attached to the body with a wooden peg as shown. Age cracks can be seen throughout. No maker's mark is visible. Shipping is available.
