Highly shellacked Chinese rosewood chest measures 14" x 8.5" x 6"H with an interior mirror (*some silvering present), a three-section velvet-lined top and two ribbed velvet-lined bottom drawers with brass pulls. The mother-of-pearl inlay depicts a serene seaside scene with a couple on shore looking at geese floating on water. There are two fighting cocks on opposite sides of front closure plate and butterflies at sides. Brass hardware - front closure plate can take a lock - not included. Piece appears to be in quite good condition for its age; however, the key at bottom to play music turns, but no music plays (?). Appears to be an area inside box in corner where someone may have tried to repair the wire music box as shown. Included in a drawer are some extra brass hinges. There is what appears to be a maker's mark at bottom - illegible. Shipping available.
