The subject item for sale is a charming, masterfully carved white marble figure of a child rescuing a white dove from a snake. Perhaps a reference to the New Testament verse encouraging one to be "wise as serpents, and harmless as doves". The classically dressed child cradles the frighted bird wrapped in her arms as she bravely confronts the climbing snake still determined to have its prey. One finger on the proper right hand is missing. The carving is in otherwise good condition with expected cleaning wear. 24 X 10 Inches. APPRAISAL PRICE: $ 685.
