They were originally made from the fruit of the Higuera tree which is round in shape. The pulp was taken out of the fruit, and holes are made and filled with tiny pebbles and then it's fitted with a handle. This collection features one pair that are painted black, and then incite-carved with floral decoration. A second pair is have been painted silver with a red band, and chip carved with a floral spray, and the single appears to be a gourd, with a Mexican scene painted and fitted with a turned handle.
