Floral Still Life by well-listed artist Melba Duke Gianelloni (1914 - 2012). Born in Alabama, she studied at Newcomb College and owned an art gallery - The Artist Colony - on Chartres Street for many years. She considered herself an American Impressionist. She married Mr. Gianelloni in 1969, so this painting dates from after that. MidCentury frame - has been in this household for years and probably purchased directly from the artist - so it is fresh to the secondary market. This artist's work has been sold by many local auction houses, including Neal Auction. Excellent condition - measures 25" across, 31" tall. A real sleeper and probably the best thing in the sale. There is a very modest reserve on this item - it if doesn't sell, it's going to a local auction house. 285 / 328 sold -
