Interesting piece of New Orleans music memorabilia - vintage New Year's Eve promotional sign made from a drum top - promotion Phil Zito's Society and Dixieland Orchestra. Zito (b. 1913 - d. 1998) was a noted Dixieland Jazz drummer and bandleader. He co-founded the Original Dixieland Jazz Band & Foundation in 1935. After WWII, Zito's radio show "Phil Zito's N.O. International City Dixielander" radio show featured a new youngster on the scene (Pete Fountain). The group made a series of recordings on the Columbia label in 1950. A very scarce one of kind piece - has sockets for small bulbs around the edge. 615 / 944 sold -

This framed Times Picayune newspaper print chronicles the closing of Pete Fountain's Nightclub in the New Orleans Hilton and his pending retirement. Noted that he had clubs in New Orleans for 43 years, beginning with his first club at 800 Bourbon after Pete found national fame on the Lawrence Welk Show. 20" x 26" - hand autographed around the edges by the members of Pete's band. 622 / 944 -
