Signed lower right Art Canvas measures 10" x 12" Frame measures 18.5" w x 16" high Stephen was born in Surrey in 1964. He moved with his family to Hurstpierpoint in West Sussex around 30 years ago. Based at the foot of the South Downs the views in and around Brighton, Haywards Heath, Crawley, Gatwick, Chichester and London provided inspiration for his work. He specialises in Landscapes with people and farm animals, painted in oils. These capture the subtle changes of light and shade, throughout the seasons. The inclusion of sheep, cattle, horses and figures in many of his landscapes help to truthfully convey the peaceful atmosphere of modern day rural life. In 2014 he entered his first competition with the Society of All Artists and received a highly commended for his work. Encouraged by this success, he entered Capturing the Scene in the 2015 competition and won the overall Artist of the Year title. He has entered a few more competitions since then and results can be seen below. In 2020 he was honoured to have his work accepted by the Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA) to be hung in their annual exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London. Stephen's work is now highly collectable and sells regularly from galleries across the UK and USA. Original Oils Traditional, age-old techniques are used for painting individually by the Artist, from hand stretching the linen canvas, or gesso-priming board, through to varnishing the finished picture and hand finishing the frame. All materials are of the highest quality to ensure longevity, colour fastness and durability. 192 / 1547 sold -
