This is a very unique lawn jockey in that it appears to be a hybrid of the 'Jocko' style lawn jockey, which was an exaggerated caricature of slaves from the 1800s, and the 'Cavalier' lawn jockey, which is much taller and is still in use at horse racing tracks. What makes this lawn jockey unique besides the hybrid design is the the arm holding the lantern is the right arm and not the left as is traditional design for the Cavalier lawn jockey. Lawn jockeys were often used to guide slaves to the Underground Railroad so they could escape to freedom. This one is cast from what appears to be concrete. Please bring help to load this item as it is very heavy! 535 / 535 sold
