Original George Inness (1825-1984) “Windmill†painting, one of America’s greatest 19th century artists. In 2005, the painting was restored at Philadelphia, Restoration and Conservation where it was determined it was a George Inness original. In 2009, Sotheby’s valued the painting at $50,000. The painting has been passed down through five generations of the current owner’s family from Cape Cod, Massachusetts to the West Village in New York City, to a farm in the Hudson Valley, NY and finally to the home of Andy King in Charleston. Andy traced the original purchase back to his great grandfather, Frank Lewis who purchased it from a Boston art gallery in 1875. 2 / 213
